Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 14-member junior Tigers team for the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup 2016 on Sunday.
The extravaganza for the youth will be held in Sri Lanka, starting from December 13-24.
A total of eight teams including Asia’s four Test playing nations-Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka who will be joined by Afghanistan, Nepal, Singapore and Malaysia, splitting into two groups, in the 12-day-long tournament.
All the matches of the group phase will be held in Colombo and Galle but the final of the 8-nation tournament will be played at Sri Lanka’s capital on December 24.
Bangladesh are scheduled to fly for Colombo on December 12. They will play some practice matches against CCDM XI at the BKSP before leaving Dhaka for Colombo.
Bangladesh meanwhile held a 53-day-preliminary practice camp with the 26-member team that was formed just after the end of the Challenge Series last two and-half-a-months ago.
Now Bangladesh U19 Team will start a three-week preparation camp at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA), starting from November 19.
All the selected players including the standbys were asked to report at the NCA at 4:00pm on November 18. The team will stay in Dhaka for the next three days to hold some gym and fitness session with the modern practice facilities.
They thereafter will travel to BKSP in Savar for training and practice under the guideline of the head coach Abdul Karim Jewel.
In this regard, BCB Game Development senior national manager AEM Kawser said that they are yet to receive the grouping and itinerary of the tournament.
“We got to know that the eight teams, splitting into two groups, will play at two grounds of Colombo and Galle. But we are yet to get any final decision from ACC about the grouping and venues, where we will actually play,” said AEM Kawser.
“Hopefully we will get to know about all the things within few days,” Kawser told The Independent.
