RAJSHAHI: A case has been filed against a teacher of Rajshahi University (RU) under section 57 over spreading fake and deceptive information about the university on social media, reports UNB.
Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said Professor Entajul Haque, registrar of the university, filed a general diary against Kaji Jahidur Rahman, assistant professor of the Computer Science and Engineering Department on November 8 for spreading fake information about the activity of the university on his Facebook post.
After investigation, police recorded the complaint as a case on Monday night.
Jahidur Rahman recently posted status against corruption and irregularities of the university’s digitalization programme.
Later the RU authority issued him a letter for presenting his explanation in this connection and Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, pro vice chancellor of the university, said the university filed the case against Jahidur Rahman as he failed to come forth with proper explanation about the Facebook posts.
