Title contenders Abahani Limited again dropped points in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League when they made a struggling 1-1 draw against the Chittagong Abahani Limited at the MA Aziz Stadium in the port city.
On the other hands, Brothers Union returned to their winning ways after defeating Farashganj Sporting Club by 3-1 in the day’s other game at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital.
Abahani Limited, who are working hard to come back in the title race winning two second-leg matches in a row, disappointed again sharing points with Chittagong Abahani.
Host Chittagong Abahani, who gave an even fight with four times champions Abahani Limited, went ahead with a Yoko Smanick strike in the 40th minute.
The visitors and obviously the favourites Dhaka giants hit back inside seven minutes after the break to equalise the margin when Sunday Chigozie converted a penalty on 52nd (1-1).
Meanwhile, Brothers Union, who ended the first round with huge prospect of staying in the title race along with Mohammeda Sporting Club and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, fought back strongly. Kestor Akon and Augustine scored one each for Brothers, while the other goals was an own goal. Peter claimed the lone goal for Farashganj.
