Joypurhat: An alleged robber was injured in a gunfight with police on Joypurhat-Santahar road in Kanthalbari Bridge area of Akkelpur upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
The injured robber was identified as Rashed, son of Ashraf Ali, a resident of Abadpur village in the upazila. He is accused in four robbery cases.Ashok Kumar Paul, superintendent of Joypurhat Police, said a gang of robbers attacked a CNG-run autorickshaw carrying a patrol team of police in the area around 1.30am. Later, police opened fire at the gang which left Rashed bullet-injured while other robbers managed to flee the scene.
