Chittagong Vikings skipper Tamim Iqbal expressed his frustration following his team’s consecutive shocking defeats in three matches in BPL.
Such was the frustration that Tamim said his close sources that he may resign from the captaincy of Chittagong Vikings. He though didn’t reveal anything about his resignation from the captaincy at the post-match briefing.
After winning the first match against defending champions Comilla Victorians, the team conceded defeats in three successive matches against Rangpur Riders by nine wickets, Khulna Titans by four runs and Barisal Bulls by seven wickets.
In the match against Khulna Titans he blasted two batsmen without mentioning their name, saying that they didn’t play according to the advice of him despite sending messages 20 times.
“You all along with me are frustrated to see such type of matches. It is no means to score 40 runs off eight overs. In that over I was out while we had nine wickets in hands, from there we just scored 40 runs. We don’t expect that,” said Tamim Iqbal.
“So it’s heavy batting luck and also the way we bowled. The way most of the boundary has been happened if you bring good players, coach and captain it is not possible to stop the rut if you play in such disdainful manner,” Iqbal told at post match conference.
Defending Bijoy’s batting position at number three, the hard-hitter opener said that he brought him because of being well-informed about the local bowlers than the overseas players.
“Bijoy was batting at No 3 the reason was he knows the bowlers better than the others. Some foreign players, including likes of Elliott and Smith, may not face Kamrul Islam Rabbi or Al Amin. I think he did the decent job,” the 29-year-old batsman said.
“If other side would play a bit then we could score 170-180. The start we got when I was out then nine-run was per over. From there, 40 runs off eight overs that not acceptable,” he also said.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who entered into the 1000-run club of BPL, said that he comes back in form what he wants to carry on throughout the T20 tournament,
“In last few match, my performance is being better. Inshaallah, my best effort will be carried on it in the next matches of the tournament,” said Mushfiqur Rahim.
“In T20, it not always possible to play better cricket as there are different match situation, where you have to hit from the first ball. Sometimes, you have to take too many risks for the team’s need. By the grace of Allah, last four days have been passed well. I’ll try to keep its continuation,” Rahim told media.
