20 DU students get SM Hall Scholarship
Some 20 students of Salimullah Muslim Hall of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded SM Hall Scholarship for their outstanding academic performances.
Vice-chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function at the VCs lounge of the university.
Salimullah Muslim Hall Provost Prof Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan presided over the function. Prof Arefin Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make Bangladesh a peaceful country. We want to produce morally developed graduates along with their academic excellence at the university, he added.
The recipients of scholarships are- Md. Abdul Hannan (International Relations), Md. Rabiul Islam (Urdu), Sharifuzzaman (Islamic Studies), Md. Atiqul Islam (Information Science Library Management), Aminul Islam (Institute of Social Welfare and Research), Sujan Ahmed (I E R), Md. Riaz Uddin (Institute of Social Welfare and Research), Mahfuzur Rahman (Urdu), Mustain Billah Ruman (Islamic Studies), Md. Ishtiaq Ahmed (Philosophy), Md. Naimur Rahman (I E R), Md. Abdur Rahim (Islamic History Culture), Md. Ariful Islam (International Business), Md. Sohel Rana (Institute of Social Welfare and Research), Md. Abdullah Al Faisal (Management Studies), Md. Moniruzzaman (Persian Language), Md Habibur Rahman (Urdu), Md. Muttaleb Hossain (Law), Md. Tauhidur Rahman (Psychology) and Anwar Hossain (Philosophy).
Dr Kazi Hanium gets Rowshan Innas Research Award at DU
Dr Kazi Hanium Maria, associate professor of the Department of Physics of Dhaka University (DU), has been Awarded Rowshan Innas Ali Research Award-2014 for her outstanding research work.
DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the award to Dr Maria as the chief guest at a function at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. Donor of the Trust Fund Dr Husne Ara Ali and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Syed Nazmul Huda also addressed the function.
Prof Arefin congratulated Dr Maria and also paid his glowing tribute to the memory of late Prof M Innas Ali. The VC recalled the outstanding contributions of Prof Ali to develop scientific research and education in the country. He urged the students to equip themselves with moral values by following the ideals of Prof M Innas Ali. Prof M Innas Ali was the Chairman of DU Physics Department. He had donated money to DU authorities for setting up Rowshan Innas Ali Trust Fund at the university in memory of his wife. He died on May 3, 2010 in Dhaka at the age of 94.
Computer Laboratory inaugurated at DU
A renovated and modernised Computer Laboratory of the Department of Information Science and Library Management of the University of Dhaka was inaugurated yesterday, says a press release.
Southeast Bank Limited gave financial support to the renovation and modernisation work as part of Banks Corporate Social Responsibility. Prof Dr A A M S Arefin Siddique, Vice-chancellor of University of Dhaka graced the occasion as chief guest. Shahid Hossain, Managing Director of Southeast Bank Limited was also present in the ceremony as the special guest.
NSTU admission test results published
The result of the admission test of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) for first year honours course under 2016-17 academic year has been published yesterday.
Dr Wahiduzzman, vice-chancellor of the university, announced the result at a press conference. Pro-VC Dr Abul Hossain, NSTU registrar professor Mominul Haque, provost Yusuf Miah, Mehadi Mahmudul Hassan , convener of exam committee proctor Musfiqur Rahman, Dr Humyun Kabir were also present. A total of 45,643 students have registered for the admission test for 890 seats in ABCD unit with 17 departments under 3 faculties.
