President Abdul Hamid yesterday asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to take steps to ensure the quality of higher education in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
Abdul Hamid made the directive when an eight-member delegation, led by UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, submitted its Annual Report-2015 at Bangabhaban.
President Hamid, also the chancellor of country's all universities, directed the UGC authorities to bring necessary changes in curricula at university level so that the young generation can move forward with successes in this competitive world. President's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The delegation apprised the President of different aspects of the report and activities taken by the commission.
They also informed that a parliamentary standing committee started its activities to make the existing private university act more time-befitting one. Secretaries concerned were present on the occasion.
