Dhaka to be hub of ‘internet of things’ soon: Palak

Bangladesh will become the hub of Internet of Things (IoT) soon.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this at the launching programme of an ultra-modern IoT (Internet of Things) Lab and Datasoft Systems’ new office in the capital yesterday.
Datasoft Systems Bangladesh Limited has introduced the IoT Lab for the first time in the country at its new office in Shyamoli in the capital aiming at focusing Bangla-desh in the global arena.
The IoT lab of Datasoft is a joint collaboration with a Japanese company Datasoft- Japan.
According to experts, the Internet of Things is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
The Internet of Things or IoT can increase efficiency in manufacturing, beef up security and make life easier. 
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Bernicat, Managing Director of Datasoft Limited Mahboob Zaman, Director and CEO M Manjur Mahmud, HR Director Dil Afroz were present on the occasion.
Datasoft’s MD said 30 IoT engineers are working at this moment in Datasoft’s new office while students from five local universities will get the chance to get trained here. 
The IoT lab will provide services like-- augmented reality, virtual reality and location based services as well, he added.                  
“Datasoft systems Ltd has been the pioneer for bringing up this new technology in the country. The company is currently working for a project called “building an army of 300 IoT project engineers” and we have provide all the assistance to make this project feasible,” Palak also added.      
Managing Director of Datasoft System Ltd Mahboob Zaman said, “By 2020, 15 billion devices will be connected by the internet and IoT will contribute and add value to that.”
According to Mahboob Zaman, “Logics and numbers are equal to IoT. By launching this sophisticated technology, we want to change the total scenario and mindset of the Information Technology (IT) sector in Bangladesh”.
