Rajshahi Kings all-rounder Sabbir Rahman Rumman regrets for the loss of the team, stating that they should have won the match against Barisal Bulls in the nail-biting high-scoring match of the BPL.
Rumman made a new record of BPL when he struck the best-ever of 122 in BPL at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday. By this, he broke the previous BPL record of Chris Galye’s 116. Chris Gayle, who himself smashed three centuries. Of them, he hammered two for Barisal and one for Dhaka.
He hit ninth century in BPL as the seventh batsmen but third Bangladesh batsmen after Mohamamd Ashraful (103 not out) and Shahriar Nafees (102 not out).
“The team’s victory is the biggest thing to me. It may not be important whether I make one or 10 runs. Today I made 122 but we didn’t win the match. I feel very regret for it,” said Sabbir Rahman.
Sabbir said that he always plays for the team and try to give his hundred percent effort for the team’s success.
“Actually I always try to play for the team whatever the situation is. Against Dhaka, I scored 31 off 40 that was one type of playing. Today it was a different type of wicket and match. I always try to give my hundred percent for the team,” the all-rounder said.
“I don’t make any difference when I make one run or hundred but team does not win. It would be better if I could help for team’s success. But I think we should have won the match,” he also said.
Kings batsman said that they should sort out the reason why they repeatedly fumble at the close door of their victory.
“We lost two matches. We lost the first that was close match. This match was also a close match. We should win the match. I don’t know what the last batsmen think. When we needed six runs off six balls they tried to hit six or four. I don’t know their mentality,” the 24-year-old batsman said.
“I think T20 is 20-over game. We all played 19 overs but we lost in one over. We have to find out why we reportedly lose the matches in the penultimate over. I think we have to make us mentally stronger. Why we don’t win the match having in winning positions. We lost the matches to hit six,” he added.
The right-hander said that he always thinks T20 as his loveable format of games as he enters into international stage with it.
“I always believe that T20 is always a game for me as I broke into the national team by T20. Then I played Test for the national team by the performance of T20. I had belief in mind that I will make big scores today and tomorrow. Today I struck 122 off 61 balls. It was a record but one will come to break the record,” he explained.
“When I play T20 and chase the big score I always look at the scoreboard and follow the run-rate when I will bring the run-rate to 5-6 or level the run-rate. I just focus on this thing.”
When asked about some gestures in the games, Sabbir said, “This is a spirit of mine. When I was in positive mood, when I was in focused I made these types of gestures in the games. I do it when I feel very fit. But I don’t do it when I was in comedown or crestfallen. It makes me speedy or focused me for the next ball. I enjoy these things.”
