Fire breaks out in Ctg  
A fire broke out at Hajji Colony in Ghatforhadbeg area of Chittagong city on Sunday morning.
Duty officer at Chittagong control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Rupak Biswas said the fire erupted at the area around 8am. On information, eight units of firefighters rushed to the spot and put out the flame around 9:55am, after a frantic effort of two hours, Rupak added. The amount of losses and the reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.

Student crushed under train 
A college student was killed yesterday crushed under a train in Kumira area under Sitkunda police station of Chittagong. The deceased was identified as Mahmuda Akhter Mili, 21, daughter of former local union parishad member Abu Taher of Kumira.
She was a student of honours second year of local Bijoynagar Degree College, said police sources.   The accident took place at 9am in the morning. However, police are yet to be confirmed reason behind the death. “On information we have recovered the body. The body was handed over to the guardian of the deceased. We are yet to be confirmed it was murder, suicide or merely an accident. 

Student-Alumni Congress  
The Student-Alumni Congress 2016 of Daffodil International Academy was held at KIB auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
Hasanul Haq, Inu, MP, Minister, Ministry of Information was present as the chief guest. Professor Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice-chancellor of Daffodil International University and Jim Scarth, Deputy Director of British Council Bangladesh was present as special guest. The Programme was chaired by Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Executive Director of Daffodil International Academy. Md. Sharwar Hossain Mollah Deputy Director of DIA delivered welcome speech and Vote of Thanks was given by Md. Shah Newaz Mazumder Deputy Director of DIA.  

Death anniv of M A Rab today
The 41st death anniversary of Major General (Retd.) MA Rab, Bir Uttam, Chief of staff of Liberation Forces and First honorary Managing Director of `Mukti Joddha Kalyan Trust’will be observed today, says a press release. 
Relatives and well wishers are requested to pray for eternal salvation to the departed soul of M A Rab.

6 cops, 3 organisations awarded 
The Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police yesterday awarded six of its personnel and three organisations with medals acknowledging their professional and organisational excellence and courage in delivering services.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Khondker Golam Faruk distributed the awards among the police personnel of all eight districts under Rangpur Range at the monthly crime, law and order assessment meeting for October at his conference room as the chief guest. He distributed the medals for laudable performances in maintaining law and order, taming violence and fighting terrorism and extortion and handling crimes like mugging, robbery and murder and drug trafficking.
