The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday upheld a High Court order that stayed the suspension of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Moniruzzaman Moni, reports UNB.
A four-member panel of Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order while dismissing a plea filed by the state seeking a stay on the High Court order. Government suspended Moni as par the rule last year as charge-sheets were submitted against him in two criminal cases. Following a plea against the government order, the High Court stayed that suspension order on June 7.
