The School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the Intra-IUB E-Sports Championship on IUB campus in the capital from November 8 to 9, says a press release.
The festival boasted powerful gaming machines and consisted of tournaments of gaming including the largely popular games FIFA 16, ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ and ‘Dota 2’.
Hundreds of students participated in the competitions. Professor M Omar Rahman, vice-chancellor, IUB attended the event as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
Among others, Dr Md Abdul Khaleque, dean of SESM, IUB and Md Ziaur Rahman, National Sales Manager, ASUS, was also present on the occasion.
In the category of ‘FIFA 16’, Md Sajidur Rahman became champion and Debrojit Saha was runner up.
In the ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ category, Abdullah Al Awan Laskar and Md Jahidul Islam were awarded the champion and runner- up respectively.
In the category ‘Dota 2’, the group ‘Team No Strategy’ achieved the championship and the group ‘Random Acts of Violence’ won the runner-up prize.
The competition was sponsored by ASUS and Jamuna Bank and hosted by Green Planet Club of the School of Environmental Science and Management of IUB.
