India produced three semifinalists in the boys singles event of Walton 30th Bangladesh ITF Junior Tennis Championship winning their respective quarterfinal matches at the National Tennis Complex yesterday.
Seeded No 2 Mritunjay Badola of India faced a moderate resistance before beating Ki Bum Kim of Korea 6-4, 6-4 in the first quarterfinal. Seeded No 4 Rishabh Sharda of India beat Jung Ho Shin of Korea 6-2, 6-3,
Chan Woo Park of Korea denied India a one-sided affairs when he defeated seeded No 3 Karan Srivastava of India 7-6, 7-5 and Sacchitt Sharrma of India beat Pranash Babu also of India 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the other quarterfinals.
India and China shared two spots each in the girls’ singles event. Muskan Gupta of India upset top seed Katie LaFrance of USA 6-3, 6-4 in an exciting quarterfinal match. Tanisha Kashyap also of India beat Ji Min Park of Korea 6-4, 7-6, Xiaowei Hu of China beat Harsha Sai Challa of India 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 and Jingyi Wang, another Chinese contender beat Runa Ichinose of Japan 6-1,6-3 in the other three quarterfinals.
