Comilla Victorians’ campaign in BPL-4 began with a defeat, a similar fate they tasted in the last edition of the tournament. Victorians, led by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza then created a history by winning the trophy.
Barisal Bulls however won the first match of the BPL-3 but ended as runners-up after being beaten by Comilla Victorians in the final. This year they set off the journey with a thumping eight-wicket loss to Dhaka Dynamites.
Comilla Victorians defeat came against Chittagong Vikings who tormented them by 29 runs.
The two finalists of the last season however will play each other to open the account today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Both teams however are confident of shrugging off the initial inertia to deliver the goods.
Victorians senior player Mohammad Sharif also thought Mashrafe is right in explaining the nature of T20 in right way.
“You should not be frustrated with defeat in any game. T20 is such format that you can bounce back always, as Mashrafe said. So I think we have the chance to get back into the winning way,” Sharif said ahead of the match.
“Everybody is matured cricketer here. They know where the mistakes were done. And everybody is keen to take the responsibility. So there is nothing to be worried.”
Sharif doesn’t think that Victorians was pushed on back-foot with just one defeat. He reminded that this team became champion despite losing the first game in the last edition, so they can also hope for the best.
