6th Oriental Painting Exhibition underway at Zainul Gallery

A weeklong art show titled 6th Oriental Painting Exhibition, organised by Oriental Painting Study Group (OPSG), is now underway at Zainul Gallery 1 and 2 of the Faculty of Fine Art (FFA), University of Dhaka (DU).
Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday, while Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair was present as special guest. Presided over by Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean, FFA, DU, art critic Moinuddin Khaled, art connoisseur and collector Mikhail I Islam, Sharad Dugar, curator, Gallery Images and Beyond (Kolkata) and Indian artist Samir Roy were present as guests of honour.
The exhibition is showcasing a number of 96 oriental works by 25 students from the Department of Oriental Art, DU and Department of Fine Art (Oriental Art disciplines), Rajshahi University, along with other 37 artists from Bangladesh and 17 artists from India.
This year, OPSG has introduced three best and two special awards among the students of Department of Oriental Art, DU and Department of Fine Art (Oriental Art disciplines), Rajshahi University.

After the inauguration, OPSG distributed three best awards to Nipa Rani Sarkar, Raihan Ahmed and Samina Zaman and special awards to Abu Ahmed and Hasura Akter.
During the opening programme, OPSG launched a website and inaugurated a five-day oriental art workshop conducted by Swapon Das.
The exhibition is open to all every day from 11am to 8pm, till November 13.
