Sylhet: About 500 hectares of paddy fields in seven villages of Kamalganj upazila have been inundated as the rise in the water flow of the Dhalai River breached open its embankments at three different spots, reports UNB.
The Dhalai River swelled and gushed over the breached parts of the embankment at Munshibazar union, Rahimpur union and Kamalganj municipality on the aftermath of the incessant rainfall on Saturday and Sunday last, informed local people.
Upazila Agriculture Officer of Kamalganj Shamsuddin said at least 500 hectares of land with standing Amam paddy have gone under water.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudul said the upazila administration is constantly monitoring the flood situation.
