BPL to be telecast by two new TV channels for next 3 yrs

Private Satellite television Channels Maasranga and Gazi TV will jointly live telecast all the matches of the next three editions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Both the channels bought the BPL media rights from the Impress-Mattra Consortium, who earned the right from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the next 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons as the highest bidder.
Along with that, Radio Bhumi and Radio Swadhin have been selected as Radio partners, while Content Matters will work as their digital partner.
BPL governing council member secretary and BCB director IH Mallick revealed this at a press conference at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
BPL governing council chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha, its member Sheikh Sohel, BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury and Impress-Matra Consortium managing director Faridur Reza Sagor ‘among others’ were also present.  
BCB director Mallick said that they gave their nods for both the channels to live telecast the matches of the BPL for the next three years considering the commercial aspects.
“This year all the matches of the BPL are being telecasted in 122 countries across the world. The number will be increased more in future. As soon as the popularity of the BPL will be increased the number of channels across the globe will also be increased further,” said IH Mallick.
Private Satellite television ‘Channel-9’ is telecasting the BPL matches for the fourth time. They will not be seen to live telecast for the next three years in BPL.
Mallick also said that they could allow any domestic channel to live telecast if they want.
