Woman gets life term for killing

RAJSHAHI: A court here yesterday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for killing her sister-in-law (Physically challenge woman) on July 7, 2015 in the district, reports BSS
The convict was identified as Soriara Khatun, 35, daughter of Monirul Islam of Rasulpur village under Godagari Upazila.
Judge of Rajshahi Divisional Special Court Begum Zakiya found her guilty of the murder charge and pronounced the judgment in her presence in the court.
According the prosecution, the accused Soriara Khatun strangulated her sister-in-law Rushnara Begum, 42, to death as sequel to a family feud on July 7, 2015. Rushnara was a physically challenged woman.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and also arrested Soriara Khatun from there. Subsequently, a murder case was recorded with Godagari Police Station on the same day.
After completion investigation, police pressed charges accusing the woman. The trial court examined the recorded depositions of the enlisted prosecution witnesses and handed down the verdict.
Special Public Prosecutor Shafiqul Islam conducted the case on behalf of the state.
