ACC sues ex-BNP MP Abdul Hye

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday filed a case against former BNP MP Abdul Hye for allegedly taking a Rajuk plot showing false information.
ACC deputy director Md Jahangir Alam filed the case against him with Motijheel Police Station in the capital, Commission’s public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
According to the first information report (FIR), Abdul Hye applied to the then chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on January in 2004 seeking a plot.
Responding to his application, the FIR says, Rajuk asked him to submit an affidavit ensuring that neither he nor any of his family member has any plot or flat within the area of Dhaka City Corporation under the jurisdiction of the city development authority.
Later, he submitted an affidavit to Rajuk ensuring this. But, the ACC probe found that Jamila Khatun, wife of Abul Hye, took a 5-katha plot (located in Baridhara Model Town) from Dhaka Improvement Trust (now Rajuk) in 1984 and later she sold it in 1986.
Concealing this information, Abdul Hye took a 5-katha plot of Rajuk in Banani residential area during the four-party alliance government in 2005 and misappropriated the government property by criminal breach of trust, the FIR said.
The case was filed under the section 409 of Penal Code 1860 and the section 5(2) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act 2004.
Another r report adds: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on
Wednesday arrested four graft suspects, including a bank official and former postmaster, in separate graft cases.
ACC deputy assistant director of its head office Selvia Ferdous arrested former postmaster of Mirpur BRTA Post Office Md Serajul Islam from the capital, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar  Bhattacharya said.
Earlier in the day, the ACC filed a case against him and others for not depositing over Tk 10 lakh, collecting from vehicles as toll, to the national exchequer, and allegedly plundering the amount.
ACC assistant director Jahangir Alam of its Rangpur office arrested former supervisor of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (Chaparhat branch  of Lalmonirhat) Matur Rahman and food warehouse secretary of the same branch Aminul Islam from Lalmonirhat in a Tk four lakh swindling case.
