Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, sealed off three factories and fined its owners for manufacturing banned polythene bags in Bangshal area of the capital yesterday.
RAB-2 Director Lt Col SM Masud Rana said on secret information a team, led by RAB-2 Deputy Director Didarul Alam, raided at Shihab Printing Press, Mokka Printing Press and Mim Printing Press in the area yesterday.
After searching the printing houses, RAB found huge quantity of banned polythene bags were stored in these factories, he said.
During the primary interrogation, the factory owners admitted that they were involved in production and marketing of the banned polythene bags across the country for long time.
Later, RAB executive magistrate Mohammad Helal Uddin fined each factory Tk 50, 000. RAB also sealed off all factories.
