A defamation complaint was filed against Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque with a Dhaka court yesterday for his derogatory remarks against two local Awami League (AL) leaders of Brahmanbaria, including an MP, UNB reports.
Supreme Court lawyer M Aminul Islam filed the complaint with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Mahmud.
According to the complainant, Sayedul Hoque at a press conference in Brahmanbaria on Monday said Obaidur Rahman Chowdhury, MP from Brahmanbaria Sadar constituency and president of district AL, and Al-Mamun, General Secretary of the district AL, selected two candidates for the upazila and union parishad elections in exchange for money.
Following his statement, lawyer Abdullah Al Mahmud, also a member of the AL, filed the complaint. The court fixed November 14 to pass an order on the complaint.
