Jon Eddy, head of Emerging Markets, VimpelCom, Banglalink’s parent company along with Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT, visited country’s first digital incubator centre at Janata Tower in the capital on Monday, a press statement said.
The ICT division established the tower under private public partnership to nourish the local entrepreneurial talents in developing digital solutions for a true digital Bangladesh, the statement added.
Digital innovations of the future will come through startup companies in Bangladesh, said industry leaders while visiting the country's first Digital Incubator Centre at Janata Tower in the capital.
A few months back, the government allocated space at this centre to ten startup companies and they are now offering different services in the education, health, agriculture and financial sectors.
Jon Eddy, head of emerging markets at VimpelCom, the parent company of Banglalink, said this centre is a part of their group's global corporate responsibility.
“VimpelCom believes digital growth not only drives a nation towards advancement but also contributes to the country's economic development,” Eddy added.
Erik Aas, chief executive officer of Banglalink, said he will not be surprised if the next level of Facebook or search engine like Google comes from Bangladesh.
