Murder accused held with fake currency notes 
Police in a drive arrested a murder accused along with fake currency notes worth TK 50,000 from Purbo Shaheed Nagar area in Chiattgong city on Monday evening.
The arrestee was identified as Jahangir, son of late Nurul Islam, hailing from Fatikchhari upazila. He was also accused in a murder case filed with Fatikchhari Police Station, and in a robbery case filed with Hathazari Police Station. Mohammad Mohosin, officer-in-charge of Bayezid Police Station, said a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 7pm and arrested him along with the fake currency notes.

2 held with firearm, ammo 
Police in a drive arrested two youths and recovered a foreign made pistol, three bullets and a magazine from Pagar Fakir Market area of Tongi in the city Monday night.
The arrested were M Rasel, 25, in Tangail and M Dipu, 14, a resident of Narsingdi district. On a tip-off, a team of police from Tongi Thana conducted the drive in the area and arrested the duo with the firearm and bullets, police said. A case was filed in this connection.

One arrested with arms in Ctg
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Sunday arrested a man with a light gun (LG) following a clash between two groups of locals at city’s Bangla Bazar area.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Reaz. Police said two groups of the locals were locked into a clash over establishing supremacy at Bangla Bazar Ghat area under city’s Sadarghat thana on Sunday. Supporters of the both groups brought out processions in the area and fired blank shots to create panic, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Shimul Das of Sadarghat thana. Police arrested Reaz with a locally-made LG and several rounds of cartridges from the spot, the SI said adding that a case was under process in this regard.

Plaque of Rokeya Memorial Sculpture Light unveiled
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said conscience of Begum Rokeya shall inspire the womenfolk everlastingly in ensuring their education, equal rights, dignity and empowerment. 
“The doctrine of Rokeya has been helping women to advance successfully in every sphere of society and the males must think females as companions to ensure equal women rights in advancing the nation,” he said. Jhantu made these observations at a ceremony arranged for unveiling the plaque of Begum Rokeya Memorial Sculpture Light at Shalbon Chowrasta Mour here on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.
