
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said that the regional cricket association (RCA) will come into force at seven divisions and Dhaka Metro within the next three months.
“We have taken a decision for the formation of the regional cricket association (RCA). We have approved the proposal of the RCA. So, the activities of this organisation will soon come into force. It will start at seven divisions along with Dhaka Metro,” said Nazmul Hassan.
“We have given 20 days to give opinion if any have. It will be floated within the next three months,” Papon told media after coming out from the 15th board meeting.
Some certain issues besides the routine and financial issues were discussed and approved in the board meeting.
The board has decided in principle to hold Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held in the first week of February, 2017. Even they approved the BPL media rights for Matra Consortium.
“We have floated our tender for the BPL media rights. Matra Consortium has been awarded with the rights for the next three years, starting November 28,” the BCB president said.
He also said that the board approved the revenue and expenditure budget in this meeting. Papon said that they are preparing a commercial endorsement policy for the players so that they could control the players in more disciplined way.
“The board is formulating a commercial endorsement for the players. It is not against players’ interest. The board is preparing the policy so that they could control the players in more disciplined ways. It will be presented in the next board meeting and then will be approved,” the president said.
Along with that, the board announced spin all-rounder Rumana Ahmad as Bangladesh women’s cricket team captain for the next away tours.
“We have selected, Rumana Ahmed, the new captain of Bangladesh women’s cricket team for the next two tournaments including Women’s Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup Qualifiers,” Nazmul told.
ICC World Cup Qualifier will be held in Sri Lanka in February next year following Women’s T20 Asia Cup, which will be held in Bangkok in November.
The board also agreed to develop the two grounds of Jahangirnagar University and Mohakhali’s BTCL ground to run the matches of the domestic league.
The board earmarked the financial assistance for two federations, two ailing journalists and football referee.
“Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) involved with country’s hockey and gave them assurance. We have approved it in the meeting. Hockey Federation formulated a long-term planning. We have allocated Tk one crore as financial assistance, which was approved by the board,” he said, adding “We have also decided to assist Bangladesh Swimming Federation Tk one crore as the financial assistance.”
“We have approved TK one lakh for football and match referee Monirul Islam, camera journalist Torikul Islam for two lakh and sports journalist Asif Iqbal for three lakh,” he said.
When asked about captain in New Zealand tour, Papon said, “The captain of Bangladesh in Test and ODI and T20 in New Zealand tour will be remained the same. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will lead Bangladesh in ODI and T20, while Mushfiqur Rahim in Test.”
“Brothers Union have paid their dues. Only Victoria Sporting Club has not paid yet. The board decided to clear it. We will take necessary steps against Victoria. We decided what will be taken against the club after our legal procedures,” BCB president said while he was asked about the arrears of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
