RU students suffer due to seat crisis in central library

The central library of Rajshahi University (RU) is the largest of its kind amongst all public universities in the country. But most students cannot use the library for their studies due to a space crunch.
It is often difficult for students to concentrate during studies in their small and crammed dormitories. So, they come to the reading room of the central library to practise their lessons. But only 30–40 seats are available here. As a result, a large percentage of the 35,000 RU students cannot find a seat in the reading room.
Sharmin Akter Lima, a student of the philosophy department, yesterday told The Independent that she had been living with four others in one of the dormitories. "It's almost impossible to find time to study in such a crammed room. 
So, I try to manage a seat in the reading room of the central library. However, I can't find the space to study there everyday due to the limited number of seats," she said. Prof. Shafiqunnabi Samadi, administrator of RU central library, said there was no scope to expand the space. "Later on, we'll make arrangements to facilitate a learners’ room somewhere else," he added.
