Police are still clueless over the 27 gold bars ‘snatching’ incident in Chittagong. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Patenga Police station of Chittagong Metropolitan claimed that he did not take any one for interrogation over the issue.
However, Devdas Bhattacharya, additional police commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP, (Crime and Operation) and Zahedul Islam, assistant commissioner (port zone) of CMP told The Independent that, the man whom, they brought to their custody still interrogating by Patenga police. They did not show him arrest yet.
Mentionable that a total of 27 gold bars were ‘snatched’ from a man allegedly by some people identifying themselves as Detective Branch of police (DB) on Saturday near the entrance of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport area. Over the incident Patenga police detained a man named Masud yesterday. Sources said that names of ‘four DB men’ came into light after the incident. The man, Masud, who is in the custody of the police, gave details description about the four men of the DB. Now police are checking the information.
When contacted, Devdas Bhattacharya told The Independent, “We are investigating into the matter. One Masud is in the custody of Patenga police station, we are interrogating him.” Mentionable police picked Masud from when the gold bars were allegedly snatched on Saturday. Zahedul Islam, assistant commissioner (port zone) of CMP said, “We are checking the information gleaned from Masud.” On Sunday 27 gold bars were stolen from a man allegedly by some people identifying themselves as Detective Branch of police (DB) near the Shah Amanat airport area.
