A cargo vessel carrying over 50 tones of goods capsized in the Meghna River in Hatiya upazila yesterday, reports UNB. Hatiya thana officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam said Noakhali- bound cargo vessel ‘MV Amir Vandar’ coming from Sandwip of Chittagong sank at the entry point of Kajir canal around 3pm due to storm. However, the crew of the cargo vessel managed to swim ashore. Meanwhile, a rescue team started for the spot to salvage the sunken cargo, said the OC.
