Two killed in road crash
Chuadanga: Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a triangular collision involving two buses and a three-wheeler at Manoharpur in Jibannagar upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
One of the deceased one was identified as Swapan, son of Amidul Mondal, a resident of Kestochandrapur village in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenidah. Mohammad Ali, inspector of Jibannagar police, said a Darshana-bound bus of ‘Purbasha Paribahan’ coming from Dhaka collided head-on with another bus and a three-wheeler coming from opposite direction around 10:00am, leaving the driver of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and 21 others injured. The injured were rushed to Jibannagar upazila health complex where Swapan succumbed to his injuries later.
Man dies falling from tree

An elderly man died falling from a date tree at Koikhali village in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Alim Molla, 53, a resident of the village. Police said Alim climbed the tree for cutting its branches on Friday morning.
Suddenly, he fell from the tree and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to the injures around 2.00am.
Community clinic project visited

Activities of community clinics assisted by Terre des hommes Foundation, a Swiss organisation, in Kurigram Sadar upazila was visited by high officials of ministry of health and family welfare yesterday.
Terre des hommes Foundation is operating community clinic projects in Ulipur, Chilmari and Sadar upazilas of the district.
Dr Makhduma Nargis, secretary and chief coordinator of community based health care (CBHC) project under the ministry, Dr Jahangir Alam Sarker, director of primary health care project and director general of health services, Wali Ullah, chief engineer of the department of public health engineering, and Dr Yousuf, programme manager of the CBHC, visited Maratary community clinics in Ghogadaho union and Maddya Kumarpur community clinic under Bhogdanga union with Tdh country representative Marie-Jeanne Hautbois.
36 arrested in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Police, in special drives from Friday night to yesterday morning arrested 36 accused on various charges from seven upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
According to law enforcement agency sources, during the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 13 accused, Kalaroa police six Patkelghata police one, Assasuni police four, Tala police two, Kaliganj police three, Shyamnagar police six and Debhata police one accused.
During the drives, Sadar police seized 63 pieces of Yaba tablets.
