Left- hand batsman Mominul Haque made his international debut with one day and T20 in 2012 before his Test debut. But he consolidated his place in longer version. Thereafter, he is considered as a Test batsman.
He is playing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Rajshahi Kings. The diminutive batsman did his practice with the team’s players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground.
“Actually I have no pressure on me. I have nothing to lose. You all know I am Test player. So, I have nothing to lose or prove. I will try to do my level best what I have capability,” said Mominul Haque, who played 52 T20s including six for Bangladesh so far.
“I have faith that I could do well whatever level or format I play. I will try to prove my ability,” Haque told media after their practice session.
Mominul pins on his ability, stating that he will get his position back if he could play well whether he get chances to perform.
“I don’t think that I have no ability. It may be that I play comparatively less number of matches in one day games. If I could do perform well in BPL and DPL then all will be compelled to take me. Performance is the root of all. I will come to my place if I could do well whether it is in ODI or T20 or Test,” the 25-year-old-batsman said.
He said that if you set a target then you will be successful to achieve your target.
“If you try to survive, our performance will then
be better. If you think that you will play in the next
BPL then you will be 40 or 50 percent successful. And if you think that you will play long times and play for Bangladesh team. Actually if you have big target and achieve something then it will be worked in that way,” he thinks.
“You have to take preparation for the game. If you think that match will be held or not. I have no hands over it. It is out of control. We will regularly practice, hold meeting what we have in our hands,” he said.
This time Mominul plays for Rajshahi Kings, who formed a well-balanced team with the mix of local and foreign quality players. Sabbir Rahman, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mehedy Hasan Miraj, Mominul Haque, Farhad Reza, Najmul Hossain Apu, Rakibul Hasan, Abul Hasan Raju, Rony Talukdar, Salman Hossain and Ebadot Hossain are in the Kings’ line-up.
West Indian World Cup winning captain Darren
Sammy will lead Rajshahi Kings, while Pakistani
pacer Mohammad Sami, Sri Lankan all-rounder
Milinda Siriwardana, batsman Upul Tharanga, English all-rounder Samit Patel, Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal and Windies all-rounder Kesrick Williams bolstered Kings.
“I think our team has been well-balanced. We have no superstars in the team. But those, who are in the team, are all good players,” Cox’s Bazar-born lad said.
“I think that there is nothing predicted in T20. Any team may do well at any time. when a team played well in batting, bowling and fielding then they do better.”
About him, Mominul said, “It is better for me that onone expect 50 off 15 from me. I do what will be bonus not only for me but also for the team.”
