RU asstt proctor sent to jail

Rajshahi University’s (RU) assistant proctor and also RU Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department teacher Atikur Rahman Raza yesterday was sent to jail for  his alleged involvement with the death of Prof Akter Jahan Jolly, associate Prof of MCJ department and colleague of Raza.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Assistant police officer Al Amin said, “Raza confessed to extra marital relations with Jolly and Raza denied marrying her, not to control her mental pressure she committed suicide”. So we sent him to jail, he added.
Raza was detained for interrogation about the Jolly’s death on Thursday night from Talaymari area under Rajshai district. The academic committee of MCJ department of the campus had withdrawn Jolly’s former husband and also colleague Prof Tanvir Ahmed and his wife Soma Deb, also teacher of this dept for 5 years from all the academic activities on September 23.
