Five South African players joined the squad in Bangladesh yesterday to play the ODI series. The players are batsman and Test captain Hashim Amla, leg-spinner Imran Tahir, all-rounder Farhan Berhardien and fast bowlers Morne Morkel and Ryan McLaren.
David Wiese and Beuran Hendricks, the two members of the Twenty20 squad will leave Bangladesh for their country today after the completion of the second match.
Uncapped leg-spinner Eddie Leie is also due to leave Bangladesh but the team management decided to keep him in the ODI squad.
In fact Hashim Amla will play the ODI series under the captaincy of AB de Villiers and then he lead the team in two Test matches in Chittagong and Dhaka.
Amla, a consistent run getter in both format, so far scored 6757 runs in 82 Tests. He amassed 5692 runs after playing 115 ODIs. He slammed 23 centuries in Test cricket and 20 tons in ODI.
South Africa won the first T20 convincingly to indicate that Bangladesh might find the series tough against them unlike the series against India and Pakistan.
