President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin’s stance is neutral with the question of the citizenship of three foreign football players.
Salahuddin, while talking to the reports yesterday at the BFF Bhaban put across his opinion about the merits and demerits of allowing citizenship to the foreign players said, “About giving the citizenship of three African footballers, personally I am not in favour of this decision or against the decision.”
“I can tell you, I am not against this, because all over the world taking advantages with following this procedure, why not we, it is now a situation demand.”
“If any player wants to play for the national team for a particular country, he has to play for that very country for at least five years and managed all his earnings, so he has some liability for that country.”
‘Our Dutch coach also told me, ‘If my country can adopt this procedure why not you’.”
“If you look at the Holland, you will find so many migrated players, even if you look to 1998 World Cup winners France, will get some of the players, who were migrated.” Japan never approve citizenship to anyone but they did it to Ramos for football,” explained his logic in favour of citizenship.
Salahuddin, replying to a query said, “Survival for the fittest, there is nothing can plug up your brilliance, if we have any talented no one can beat him, he must emerge, what I believe. They will fight to make their room in the national side.”
“But if they do not cover the criteria having the citizenship of our country then they will not, BFF is official working on this,” said Salahuddin.
