An inspector of traffic police has been sent to jail in connection with a case filed under ICT Act by a female student of Kushtia Medical College, UNB reports. The accused policeman is Muminul Islam, now performing duties in the Chapainawabganj traffic police department.
Mostafizur Rahman, additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kushtia, passed the order yesterday after rejecting his bail petition. According to the prosecution, when Muminul Islam was posted in Kushtia in 2012, he was embroiled in a sex scandal with the girl. He also captured the incident on film and threatened her to marry him, but to no avail. The girl got married to a deputy engineer of the Pabna Power Department in January this year.
After hearing news of the marriage, Muminul sent the photos to the girl's husband and some of her in-laws, leading to the husband divorcing her in April.
Later she filed the case with the Kushtia Model Police Station on April 19 under 57/2 no section of Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006.
Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet against Muminul on October 29.
