7 jail guards closed for assaulting UP chairman

Jessore: The jail authority has closed seven guards of Jessore Central Jail for allegedly assaulting a union parishad chairman of Bagherpara upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB. The closed jail guards are: Sagar Islam, Shahidullah Mir, Hiron Mridha, Faruq Hossain, Masum Billah, Hossain and Liakat. Abu Taleb, jailer of Jessore Central Jail, confirmed this on Wednesday, saying they were closed after initial investigation of footage recorded by Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera. He also noted that a three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the assault on Jahurpur UP Chairman Dilu Patwary of Bagherpara upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
