The Jail Killing Day was observed in Rajshahi and Barisal yesterday paying rich tribute to the four national leaders assassinated inside the Dhaka Central Jail on this day in 1975.
City unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organisations observed the day through various programmes paying due homage to the martyred.
In Rajshahi, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national four leaders will be brought back at any cost. However; the government also pledges bound to completing the trial of the killers.
He said this while taking part on mourning precession of the Jail Killing Day in the city yesterday morning. This issue is one of the top priority agenda of this government; pointing the matter he further said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already served notice through the Interpol and started talking to the foreign countries where the killers of November 3 are escaped.
Meanwhile, in observance of the Jail Killing Day, leaders and activists of Rajshahi city and district unit Awami League (AL) and its associate organisations and several other socio-cultural and professional groups wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and four national leaders at Rajshahi city unit Awami League office. Later they brought out a mourning procession and offered floral tribute to the grave of martyred national leader AHM Kamruzzaman yesterday morning. The procession was headed by son of AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, President of Rajshahi City unit AL and son of martyred national leader AHM Kamaruzzaman.
In Barisal, district and city unit Awami League, its front organisations and different socio-cultural and professional bodies observed the Jail Killing Day in Barisal. They marked the day by holding various programme, including hoisting of the national flag and black flags on party office premises in the city and wearing black badges on the morning.
The party leaders and workers led by including Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus MP and Jebunnesa Afroz MP placed flowers at the portraits of Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Mansur Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman –killed on November 3, 1975 inside the Dhaka central jail, where they had been detained after the assassination of the country’s founding president and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a bloody military coup on August 15, 1975, at Sohel squar near AL office premises. The speakers called on the government to execute jail killing cases convicts as early as possible to end the politics of terrorism and foil conspiracies of anti-liberation forces and religious fundamentalists.
