Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud yesterday said everyone involved in corruption will be brought to justice and that even the most influential ones will not be spared.
Mahmud said these while replying to questions of journalists during a press conference organised at the ACC headquarter in the capital.
Replying to a query regarding the punitive measures taken against the ruling party lawmaker Abdur Rahman Badi, the ACC Chairman said that he doesn’t want to comment on the ruling given by the court.
“We want the criminals to be punished in every case,” he said.About the latency in finishing the investigation of the cases filed against the corruption of Basic Bank, the ACC chairman said, “This is a complex issue. We are still working on it.” This is for the first time that the ACC arranged an official press conference after Mahmud was appointed as the chairman of the anti-graft watchdog in March 14. The press conference was organised to reply queries regarding the annual report of the commission.During the presser, two ACC commissioners Nasiruddin Ahmed and AF Aminul Islam were present.
