6 Ansar men removed over rape charge

Six Ansar men have been withdrawn from duty at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following allegations that a patient was raped by the law enforcement personnel. 

The patient was raped in a room inside the DMCH.
However, other than removing the six from duty in the DMCH area, the authorities are yet to take any other action. 
Platoon Commander Md Zahid admitted the allegations against six of his men. "We will take action after investigating the incident", he said. 
The Ansar men involved are Ekramul, Aminul, Atiqur, Siraj, Babul and Minhaj.
According to the brother of the victim, the woman, a mental patient, hails from Homna upzaila in Comilla. 
"My sister was a brilliant student when she was in Class IX. But later on, she became mentally ill. She used to go missing from the house and remain missing for five to 10 days. Around 10 days ago, she again went missing. Getting a phone call from the DMCH authorities, I came to the city and found her in the hospital," he said. 
According to reliable sources in the DMCH, the victim told the doctors that one Ansar man, deployed in the outdoor department, had taken her to a room inside the DMCH on October 27. He, along with five other Ansar men, raped her. 
Later, one Kamal Hossain admitted her to the hospital. She was shifted to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC). 
Dr Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the OCC, said the girl is mentally ill. "We found a diary in her possession. Getting phone numbers of her family members from there, we got in touch with them. Later, we shifted her to the mental disease department through her brother," she added.
Replying to a question, the OCC chief said: "We'll be able to say whether the girl was raped only after getting results of several tests."
