Man killed in Gazipur road crash 
 A man was killed as a truck hit him in Dhirasram area in Gazipur yesterday morning.
The deceased was Bilal haji, 52, son of Sirajul Islam, a resident of Charketonpara under Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj district. Police said the accident occurred when a truck turned turtle in the area at about 9 am as its driver lost control over the vehicle, leaving Bilal dead on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad medical College Hospital morgue.

Businessman stabbed to death 
A businessman was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of miscreants in Gazipur on Tuesday night. 
The victim was identified as Mohammed Totul, 25, son of Abdul Baten of Munshipara area of Gazipur town. 
Victim’s wife Parvin Akter and mother Aktary Begum said Totul  has a stationary business in Gazipur town and lived in a rental house in Uttar Bilashpur area of the town. On Tuesday night, he was going to his workplace from his house.  While he reached at the kitchen market of the town, a group of miscreants numbering  7 to 8  suddenly attacked   Totul  and stabbed him with sharp weapons indiscriminately and left the place. Totul died on the spot.  On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.  Officer-in-charge of Joydebpur police station Khandaker Rezaul Hasan Reza said Totul locked into an altercation with one Tehran and his associates of the area on Tuesday morning over collecting toll money of the market. Police suspected that Totul might have been killed over this issue. He also said police raided  several places to arrest those who involved with the incident. 

4 drug ‘peddlers’ held in Ctg
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday in a drive detained four alleged drug peddlers from Shaheed Lane under Akbar Shah police station of Chittagong.
The Rab team, led by senior assistant superintendent of police, recovered 2,175 yaba tablets and 45 grams of heroin. The arrestees were Md Ziaur Rahman, 38, hailing from Pabna district, Md Shahid 28, hailing from Netrokona district, Rinku Akhter, 24, a resident of city’s Akbarshah area and Md Mubarok Hossain, 25, a resident of Firoz Shah colony under Akbarshah police station. Acting tip-off the team of Rab arrested the drug peddlers, said Chandan Devnath, assistant director Rab-7. 
 
25,000 meters of current net seized 
A mobile court on Tuesday seized 25,000-metre of current nets worth about Tk nine lakh and over 30 kilograms of mother hilsha fishes from different points of the Padma River of Rajshahi district.
The mobile court led by upazila nirbahi officer Alamgir Kabir conducted hectic drives in different riverine areas and seized the nets and fishes. Law enforcers including BGB extended supports towards the raid. However, none could be arrested in this connection as the fishermen fled away leaving behind the nets and fishes. District Fisheries Officer Subhash Chandra Saha told journalists that the fishermen were catching hilsha fishes defying the government ban being imposed from October 12 to November 2.
