IU admission tests begin Dec 4
KUSHTIA: The admission tests for the first year honours courses of Islamic University (IU) under 2016-17 academic years will begin on December 4 and it will continue till December 8.
The online application process began on September 15 and it ended on Tuesday midnight while a total of 72,910 applied for vying in the entry tests under eight units against 1,695 seats, according to the university's computer centre. IU Registrar (In-charge) SM Abdul Latif said the unit wise admission schedule will be published soon on the university website www.iu.ac.bd. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said the admission tests will be held with the environment of hundred percent corruptions free. However, meritorious students of the country will get the opportunities to admit into the university, he added.
Submission of application for private medical begins Nov 12
The submission of application for admission into Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) courses of 2016-2017 academic session under different private medical colleges will begin from November 12, and continue till November 26.
The decision came following a meeting on admission into MBBS course under private medical college, held at Bangladesh Secretariat in the city on Monday with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair. The merit list for admission will be published on November 28 on the website of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) while admission process will start from December 1, the release added. Detailed information relating to the admission process will be published on November 10, it said. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Secretary General Professor Dr M Iqbal Arslan and senior officials of the ministry joined the meeting, among others.
Two DU students get scholarship
Two meritorious students of Geography and Environment Department of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded AQM Mohiuddin Memorial Scholarship for their outstanding academic results in BS Honors Examination of 2015.
The recipients of Scholarship are Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah and Zannatul Ferdous. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function at the VC's lounge of the university. DU Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Geography and Environment Department Chairperson Professor Hafiza Khatun and donor of the Trust Fund Prof Naznin Afrose Huq addressed it. Prof Arefin Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make Bangladesh a peaceful country. "We want to produce morally developed graduates along with their academic excellence at the university", he added. The DU VC paid glowing tributes to the memory of late AQM Mohiuddin. He also called upon the students to make themselves as worthy citizens by following the ideals of late Mohiuddin. Late AQM Mohiuddin was a Deputy Magistrate. He was born in 1917 and died in 1982.
Two former JU teachers honoured
The teachers and students of Government and Politics Department of Jahangirnagar University on Sunday honored its two former teachers.
Professor M Salimullah Khan and Professor Zahura Khanam were honored in a colorful function held at the departments' auditorium on the campus here. Chairman of the department Shamsunnahar Khanam presided over the function while acting Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Sheikh Manzurul Haque, Professors of the department Al Masud Hasanuzzaman, Nasim Akhter Hossain, Abdul Latif Masum, Abdul Mannan, Naim Sultan and Shamsul Alam Selim and Associate Professor Bashir Ahmed addressed, among others.
