College student killed for dowry

 A newlywed college girl was killed allegedly by her husband and in-laws for dowry at Terosre village in Ghior upazila on Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Rita Rani Sutrodhar, 22, wife of Pradip Sutrodhar  and 2nd year student of Manikganj Government  Mahila College.
Family sources said Rita, daughter of Gobinda Sutrodhar of Koitta village in Saturia upazila was married off with Pradip, 28, about six months ago.
Victim’s brother Sushanta alleged that her husband and other family members started torturing after some days of marriage. On Tuesday night, Pradip locked in an altercation with Rita and put pressure on her for dowry. When Rita refused to bring the money they beat Rita mercilessly.
Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot and sent her to Ghior upazila health complex where doctor declared her dead. 
SI Kabirul Islam said the body bore several injury marks.
