Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said that they should play targeting to place them at seventh position in ICC rankings whether it is Test or ODI or Twenty20 format.
“It would be risky for Bangladesh at No 8. It may be downed at 9 at any time. Our minimum target will be stayed at No. 7 in ICC rankings whether it is Test or ODI or Twenty20 format,” said Nazmul Hassan yesterday.
Papon said that they will attempt to increase the number of Test matches in Bangladesh to make their habituation to do well in Test.
“We have not experienced to win in overseas condition. We have no programme in hands of playing in England. So, they will give us chance of playing after this series,” Papon said.
“I think we will get if we tell them. But we did not play since 10 years on England condition. How we will play at this condition abruptly,” he raises question.
Expressing his optimism, BCB president said that Bangladesh will get top priority to increase the number of matches after such victories of Bangladesh against the high-ranked team.
“We will try to increase the number of matches. Bangladesh will get top priority than others in this case of increasing matches. If we could host some more Test matches here then the confidence level will be built up,” he said, adding “We have potentials. So we should not down fewer than 7 at any format whether it is T20 or ODI or Test.

When asked about Australian Cricket team’s tour in Bangladesh, the BCB boss said that he didn’t know about the tour of Australia in Bangladesh. But he said that any team does not dare to drop the schedule tour in Bangladesh due to security concerns after England series.
Meanwhile ECB chairman Colin Graves, who is in Bangladesh with the England team, praised the security arrangements provided by the Bangladesh government and informed that it is a safe country to host cricket matches.
“The type of security we have received here is outstanding and I think Bangladesh is a safe country to host cricket matches. I would like to thank the BCB and the Bangladesh government for providing such top-class security. It was a great stay in Bangladesh,” Graves told the media yesterday.
He also praised the improvements made by the Bangladesh side and said the Tigers are now a force to be reckoned with. He said the Tigers are playing brilliant cricket at their home conditions.
