CHITTAGONG: The authority of the Bangladesh Railway (BR) in a drive yesterday evicted over 100 establishments built in both sides of railway tracks at Janali Hat railway station in the city’s Chandgaon Thana, reports BSS.
Divisional Estate Officer of BR, Eastern Zone, Ishrat Reza led the four-hour eviction drive that started at 10 am.
The floating traders in connivance with the local influential illegally occupied the land and erected different kinds of shops and vegetable market on around 50 decimals of the lands of Railway, said Ishrat Reza.
“We have evicted nearly 100 makeshift shops and establishments from the land yesterday as the occupants did not remove their establishments in spite of several notices form us”, he said adding that the authority would continue such drives in future.
