Father gets death penalty for killing daughter

A court here has awarded death penalty yesterday to a father for killing his daughter. A court here yesterday sentenced one person to death and another to life term imprisonment in separate murder cases. The convicted persons are Maharaj Howlader from Bhechki village and Md Selim Bepari from Tetulbariya village under Mathabaria upazila in the district. Additional District and Sessions Judge SM Zillur Rahman handed down the death penalty to Maharaj Howlader for killing his daughter Akter Rinku and Selim Bepari for killing his wife Aklima Begum. The court also fined Tk 20,000 to Selim, in default of which he will have to serve one more year in jail.
