Commander Md Abdul Gani of Bangladesh Navy emerged runner-up at the 3rd Asian Masters Squash Tournament held in Dalian, China, says a press release.
Abdul Gani, a member of Bangladesh Squash Federation and a regular participant at local national level tournaments said about his experience in the October 13-16 tournament: We were overwhelmed by the preparation of our hosts in China.
“In Bangladesh, we play in wall courts, while in China, we had to play the matches in fibre glass courts,” he added.
Commander Abdul Gani and his colleague at the Bangladesh Navy, also another national level player, captain Zamil Hossain, arrived at the tournament city of Dalian two days earlier to practice in the glass courts.
“To spread squash across the country, we need to inspire players to participate at such events, which provides international sporting exposure and boosts confidence,” said Abdul Gani. Captain Zamil also won two matches, losing in the quarterfinals.
