The government has taken a project to develop the living standard of marginal communities like blacksmiths, potters, barbers and circumcisers, reports UNB.
Talking to UNB, State Minister for Social Welfare Nuruzzaman Ahmed said the project, titled ‘Development of the Living Standard of the Marginal People of Bangladesh (Blacksmith, Potter, Barber and Circumciser), is likely to be approved this year.
The Department of Social Services will implement the project from July 2017 to 2020, spending Tk 431.15 crore.
“We’ll be able to support communities financially after the approval of the project,” Nuruzzaman said adding that they will be divided into several groups and provided with money for setting up shops without any condition to repay the capital or any interest on the amount.
