A group of former football organisers and national players expressed their disappointment at the recent debacle of national team and also blamed the present committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation ((BFF) for the nosedive.
Under the banner “The Current State of Football in Bangladesh”, former national –players and the organisers expressed their opinion at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital yesterday.
Led by former national football team captain Aminul Haque, former general secretary of the BFF Manzur Hossain Malu, former national team’s coach Golam Sarwar Tipu, former players Shamsul Alam Manzu and Hasanuzzaman Bablu addressed the press meet.
Manzur Hossain Malu, in his speech said, “Who are now in the committee, not only they, but all the associated with the BFF would have to take the responsibility, even me also do not want to escape from my responsibility.”
“In the past, there were a relation between BFF and the National Sports Council (NSC), the root level footaball was lively, now it is no more. There is no scope to run the football in a limited ways. Now there is no scope in the modern football to develop the game within a limited regulations.”
“It is essential to work all-together to run combinedly and lack of communication and relation with all, the condition became feeble.”
Golam Sarwar Tipu, who was national coach and also national booter said, “Not only for last eight to 10 years, the down trend started before that. We should strict to our vision on SAFF.
At least after winning five SAFF championship, we should look forward for next step.”
Hassanuzzaman Bablu said, “Now football has already been buried. When we played, we were always very cautious about our place not to lose the position to others. I also agreed with Tipu Bhai that the down trend started 10 years before.”
