Man gets life term for killing wife

RANGPUR: A court yesterday sentenced a man to life term rigorous imprisonment for killing his wife in village Chetona under Pirganj upazila of the district in 2013, reports BSS.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Jafar Md Kamruzzaman of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 of Rangpur announced the verdict in presence of the convict.
According to prosecution, accused Akabbar Ali, 48, son of Nawab Ali of the village married Rina Akhter, 35, daughter of Nawab Ali of nearby village Mithar Para in the same upazila in 2013. On May 31 in the same year, Akabbar strangled his wife Rina Akhter to death in his bedroom following family quarrel. 
After recovering the body, Pirganj Thana police conducted its autopsy at Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue and handed over to her relatives.
Rawshan Ali, the victim's elder brother, filed a murder case in this connection with Pirganj Thana accusing Akabbar Ali.
After investigation into the case, police submitted charge sheet against the accused person before the court when the trial process began. After examining the witnesses and evidences of the case, the court found the accused person guilty and handed down the verdict against him yesterday.
