Two people, including a minor boy, died as a trawler capsized in the Meghna River in Hatiya upazila after hitting a hidden shoal yesterday.
Local people said the trawler with 50 passengers on board hit a hidden shoal and sank in the river while going to Ramcharanghat area around 1:30 pm, leaving 10 passengers injured.
Local people with several boats rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the passengers.
Of the injured, two people-Yeasir Arafat Badsha, 10, son of Ali Hossain of Rasulpur Boyarchar and Arif Hossain, 30, of Char Amanullah village, were rushed to Hatiya Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, said Resident Medical Officer Dr Shahidul Islam.
