A student of Kabi Nazrul Government College drowned in the Padma River along Shimulia ferry ghat in Louhajang upazila while clicking a selfie yesterday, reports UNB. Rakibul Hasan, 17, an HSC 1st year student of the college and son of Jahangir Alam, a resident of Lalmatia area in the capital along with five friends went to Shimulia ferry ghat for a day out, said Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station. During their visit, Rakibul slipped from the Shimulia ferry ghat No 3 and went missing while taking selfies with his friends by the river side. On information, a fire service unit from Sreenagar rushed in and recovered the body of Rakibul. The fire service men suspected that Rafiqul might have choked to death after being trapped in some quicksand.
