Stocks fall marginally

Stock market closed marginally lower yesterday when investors went for booking profit from off-loading a large number of securities, reports BSS.
The sell-pressure drove the daily trade volume by 6.62 per cent to 17.23 crore shares, but the transaction value declined by 5.50 per cent to Tk 609.44 crore as majority of the traded securities closed lower.
The major DSEX index at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended the session 11.83 points lower at 4681.86 when the blue-chip DS30 finished lower at 1758.25 and the Shariah DSES at 1118.11.
Fuel and pharmaceutical sectors gained marginally on the day when 161 incurred loss and 129 gained among trade 327 issues. The major lagging sectors were bank, textile, food and allied and telecom.
The day's top five gaining issues were Sonali Ansh, Doreen Power, Miracle Industries, Anlima Yarn and GQ Ball Pen. The major losers NFML, Rahima Food, BD Finance, Imam Button and ISN Limited.
Doreen Power topped the turnover leaders, with KDS Accessories, ITC, Squire Pharma and Fortune following it.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished the day down, with its major CASPI index ending nearly 25 points down at 14394.36.
Out of the 255 traded issues, 99 gained and 130 incurred loss when some 1.11 crore shares were traded for Tk 34.42 crore.
